Job description
This is a contracting role with a minimum contracted hours of 30 per week. 70 Rand/hour during initial probation/training. Upon completion, estimated 3 months, genuine opportunities for promotion and increases in pay.
Role summary
We’re seeking a dynamic, trustworthy and motivated technical editor to join our team of remote workers. As a technical editor, you will be responsible for formatting, structuring, editing, and preparing complex corporate and technical documents for our customers in the aviation industry. A successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts to create and update technical content in accordance with project timelines.
Responsibilities
You will:
Use MadCap software, including MadCap Flare and MadCap Central to format, structure, edit, and prepare complex corporate and technical documents.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and update technical content in accordance with project timelines.
Liaise with other functional areas of our global business to ensure technical content is accurate and up-to-date.
Support the development and implementation of new practices, processes, and techniques.
Job requirements
Essential
Comfortable driving your own learning, asking questions and working independently.
Confident working on large projects with documents between 200-800 pages in length. Able to multitask, assessing the value of tasks and prioritising on the spot.
A team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal English.
An eye for detail, precision, uniformity and layout are essential.
Experience of working to a specific timelines and allocated hours.
Computer literate ideally with prior use of Word and Adobe.
Access to robust and secure WIFI.
Desired
Analytical experience, either through a relevant university degree or prior work experience.
Degree educated.
Experience in creating and editing technical documentation to a high standard based on structured notes you’ve previously captured.
Experience with MadCap software applications (Flare and Central). Not required, this will be covered during training in the role.
Experience in programming or building websites.
