Job description

About Us

At TrustFlight, we’re on a mission to elevate safety, efficiency, and compliance in aviation through smart, scalable services and technology. We understand the challenges operators face, whether it’s launching an AOC, maintaining manuals, or staying ahead of evolving regulations.

We specialise in supporting aviation organisations through end-to-end AOC services, including operational manual development, regulatory compliance, and the provision of experienced professionals such as Postholders, Safety & Compliance Managers, and Deputies. Our CAMO operation provides expert oversight for continued airworthiness, while our consultancy and training services help operators build strong, safety-driven cultures from day one.

From business jet startups to mature operators scaling internationally, we provide the tools, talent, and technical expertise to help you succeed, so you can focus on flying, while we take care of the framework.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for Lead Authors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the development and maintenance of aviation operational manuals. If you're a pilot or have an operational background in business or commercial aviation, your industry knowledge is exactly what we are looking for. We offer flexible opportunities tailored to your availability, whether you’re interested in being deeply involved in ongoing projects or prefer to contribute on an occasional, project-by-project basis.

Ways You Can Work With Us

  •  Lead Author (Full-Time): A permanent, full-time role based in the UK or British Columbia, Canada.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) (Freelance/Part-Time): Flexible, project-based or ad hoc work that fits your availability. Open to remote SMEs worldwide.

What you Bring

  • Deep aviation experience – from business or commercial aviation, whether as a pilot or in an operational role.

  • Working knowledge of aviation regulations (CAA, EASA, FAA, or TC).

  • Client-facing and project management skills – to manage relationships, gather requirements, coordinate timelines, and handle feedback.

  • Dependability – able to commit to agreed work, meet deadlines, and follow through reliably.

  • Excellent communication skills – to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.

  • Comfort working independently and leading virtual teams – with a proactive approach to problem-solving and ownership of outcomes.

  • Tech-savvy with strong computer literacy – confident using digital tools and documentation platforms to work efficiently.

  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Madcap, and Zendesk – helpful for tracking progress and maintaining workflow visibility but not required.

  • Prior experience authoring aviation manuals is a plus – but not required; operational insight is key.

  • Comfort working with AI tools – a bonus as we explore ways to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
