Job description
Purpose of the Role
The Regional Test Controller (RTC) plans, implements and conducts professional Covert Testing (CT) at airports and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) establishments across the United Kingdom. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of UK legislation to enable thorough, effective audits and to ensure security compliance is monitored and reported accurately, supporting Redline’s mission of assuring security across regulated and high-threat environments.
Scope & Decision-Making Authority
• Plans and directs the day-to-day delivery of covert test activity at assigned sites, exercising judgement on test approach within the CT department delivery plan.
• Escalates to the CT Manager on matters of legislative interpretation, significant compliance findings, or any deviation from the agreed delivery plan.
• Quality-assures own reporting prior to client release.
• UK, covering aviation and CNI sites within Redline’s client portfolio.
Key Relationships
Internal
• CT Manager — day-to-day direction and reporting on test delivery
• CT Coordinators — planning and scheduling of test delivery
• Quality Assurance team — review and certification of test reports
External
• Airport and CNI site operators — coordination of covert testing activity
• UK regulatory bodies — compliance monitoring and reporting
• Clients — certified report access and assurance outcomes
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct Covert Testing at aviation and CNI sites, including submission of accurate reports via SeMS ST.
• Plan test delivery at aviation and CNI sites in line with the CT department delivery plan produced by the coordinators.
• Maintain full working knowledge of aviation and CNI site security disciplines, including site security management, legislative amendments, and control of test pieces during testing.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of new Team Leaders or Team Members to required standards, as needed.
• Ensure correct document control procedures are maintained, including test piece sign in/out, SeMS ST reporting, boarding card issue and receipt, and vehicle documentation.
• Quality assure completed test reports in line with company policy, and verify own certified reporting prior to client access.
Key Metrics for Success
• Deliver 100% of assigned covert tests in line with the CT department delivery plan.
• Maintain a consistently high standard of report accuracy and compliance, as confirmed through Quality Assurance checks.
• Successfully complete any training or mentoring duties within agreed timescales.
• Maintain zero material non-conformances in document control (test piece sign in/out, SeMS ST reporting, vehicle documentation).

• Participate in internal AI community of practice and contribute relevant use cases where applicable.

Job requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Comprehensive working knowledge of UK aviation and CNI security legislation.
• Demonstrable experience conducting covert testing or security compliance assurance in aviation or CNI environments.
• Experience working professionally and diligently in a field-based operational setting.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the UK, including holding a full driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Previous experience within airport or CNI security operations.
• Recognised security, audit, or training qualification (e.g. NVQ in Security, instructor certification).
• Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel regularly between sites.
